The value in doing nothing! 😲

One of the hardest things ever

Happy new year! I apologise for going AWOL, but I never for once forgot about you.

Earlier in the year, I made a decision to ‘take a break’ to re-strategise and plan for the next phase of my life. You can get the full gist here.

And as exciting as it has been to slow down and take stock of my life and work in the last 10 years, it has also been tough too.

Who knew that doing nothing was so hard?!

2 things helped me see things differently:

1. One of my connections on Linkedin sent me this quote that gave me a whole new perspective. "For a word to have meaning, before and after it, there must be silence"

2. In conversing with my partner and some close friends, it became apparent that many of us value ourselves based on our work (which isn’t in itself a bad thing). We lose ourselves to our work and our identity and happiness become tied to a job/title.

So while I’m on this ‘break’, I’ve decided to be a baby boy, have fun, travel and experience as much as I can because all these will lead me to the next phase.
