I spent the weekend binge-watching ‘From Scratch’ on Netflix with my partner. I’m not sure why we chose it because it left us both teary-eyed and annoyed about the series of unfortunate events that happened to one of the protagonists.
For me, it became clear that there is a “time value of life”
Ok let me backtrack a bit, have you heard about the “time value of money”?
Investopedia tells us that The time value of money is a basic financial concept that holds that money in the present is worth more than the same sum of money to be received in the future.
Therefore, $1 earned today is not the same as $1 earned one year from now because the money earned today can generate interest, unrealized gains, or unrealized losses.
Now let’s relate this back to my initial statement - the time value of life.
Your life today is worth more than your life will be in the future because the ‘little’ time you have is ultimately more valuable than the life you think you will have in the future.
Your time now is more valuable because every moment matters, and every activity matters!
Don’t belittle your time now, don’t belittle the activities you are engaging in now as inconsequential. Value your time at work, value your time with that loved one(s), value your time creating what you love….. slow down, take a breath and live with meaning.
The journey is more important than the destination.
