Riddle me this: what is something that everyone wants, but few achieve? The answer: a lasting impact. This is something that has been on my mind lately, ever since I stumbled on some old photos from events I hosted in the past. As I scrolled through, I realized that I couldn't remember the names or faces of some of the people in those photos. It made me wonder: what will be left of me when I'm gone? How will I be remembered?
In the most recent episode of the Grinders Table podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dayo Odutale-Ademola, Managing Director for Nigeria at Branch International Financial Services. She shared her journey of creating impact through her work while also focusing on growth, risk management, and building a sustainable business for long-term success. Dayo discussed the importance of financial inclusion in Nigeria and how her company is using innovative credit profiling and scoring algorithms to provide loans to those who have been neglected by traditional banks.
But what really resonated with me was when Dayo shared her transformational experience from personal tragedy. It made me think about how important it is to not only focus on our careers but also to prioritize our personal lives and relationships. And by doing so, we can leave a lasting impact on those around us.
So, how can we all make a lasting impact? By prioritizing our personal relationships, focusing on creating positive change in our work, by confronting our biases and becoming empathetic leaders, and by striving to understand and learn from those around us.
I challenge you to take action today. Start by thinking about how you can make a positive impact in your own work and personal life. Whether it's volunteering in your local community, mentoring someone at work, or simply being a kind and supportive friend or family member, every action we take can contribute to making a positive impact in someone's life. Let's work towards leaving a legacy that will make a difference for generations to come.
Let's all take a page from Dayo' book and work towards creating impact and building a legacy. By focusing on what truly matters in life and being intentional with our actions, we can make a difference in the world around us.
