I was reviewing my year and the past decisions that led me to my current path (I do this from time to time). 

One thing became apparent, things happened when I set my mind to it and acted with singleness of purpose.

Many years ago, I needed to buy a car because my job was very demanding, I stayed far away from my office and I was an early bird. I hated the Lagos traffic so I always headed out by 5 am, which gave me the chance to use the gym at the office and have a headstart at work before others came in.

I knew I needed a car for comfort's sake. I knew I needed a car for my safety since I left early. I knew I needed a car to be more productive and use my time wisely. But I kept making excuses, they included:

• I didn't have the money and I didn't want to put myself under undue stress.

• My colleague dropped me off at home for free

• The parking space at my apartment at that time was small

• I didn't want the additional responsibility for washing and maintaining a car.

Guess what? all these excuses didn't matter, because I could get a car if I wanted to, and no I wasn't 'rich'. Do you know that saying "Where there is a will, there is a way"?

Exactly, I lacked the will. In life, external factors either push you to act by negative or positive situations or you push yourself to act before things go south.

What pushed me? 

In the space of two weeks, I got robbed and was dished a dirty memorable slap (yes, I saw stars). And then I was also chased by a mentally ill woman. 

This mail has become so long, so I'll stop the story for now.

Anyway, I bought my car a week and a half after these incidents. I stopped making excuses and focused on putting everything in place to aid my purchase of a car.

The point is, get to action, and start 'acting now', the universe will eventually align. 

When it feels scary to jump, that's exactly when you jump. Otherwise, you will be staying in the same place all your life 

Where there is a will, there is a way.
