Fire that mentor
Chronicles of an Afropreneur

Dear ,
Today's mail will be short and sweet.
We all agree that a mentor is important to everyone's success, be it in business, relationship, career etc. Mentors give you strategic guidance and direction. Mentors do not do the work for you (I hope you know this!).
However, I feel that we should look beyond the value and the advice that a mentor gives. I'll tell you why. As I began to learn the importance of mentors and lean on them for advice and clarity, I also noticed that I began to reflect and re-enact some of their mannerisms and values. The ones I liked and even the ones I didn't like.
This brought me to the realization that "who mentors you is as important as what they teach you"
Ask yourself these questions:
Is your mentor(s) currently aligned with your values?
Are you noticing behaviours that are not reflective of what you expect?
Does the life they live impact your positively?
If the answer is no, then fire that mentor now! Pick the relevant lessons from them and move on.
Who mentors you is as important as what they teach you!
Keep grinding,
Uwem
